Sign up – As an author

 

You onli need: 1. Fill in the application 2. A recent passport-sized photograph 3. A photocopy of your ID card, Passport... 4. Confirmation that you are no longer registered in other Society 5. Pay 15 euros 6. Register at least one of the works of which you are the author and already has been published

 


 


 

1. To become a member of the SGAE we need you to fill in the application form provided below: Application form for Authors

REMEMBER:

  • Please check you put in your complete e-mail address and write in capital letters
  • Send us both copies of the management contract included with the application form so that we can send one of them back to you after you have been registered as a member of the SGAE

2. A recent passport-sized photograph of you

3. A photocopy of your ID card, Passport, Resident's Permit or any other legal document accrediting your date of birth, nationality and residence

4. If you are coming from another copyright management body, you will also have to provide us with a document from that other body confirming that you are no longer registered with it for those rights and/or territories you want our Society to manage on your behalf

5. Pay a one-off fee of 15 euros

This payment will be made only once and you can pay it in cash at any of our Offices or by bank transfer. In this latter case, you should also submit a copy of the receipt for the transfer (*)

6. Fill in your works in the corresponding register declaration.

Become a member – As a publisher

 

1. In order to be a PUBLISHER member of the SGAE, we need you to complete the application form provided here: Application for admission as a Publisher

REMEMBER:

  • To fill in your e-mail address correctly and put all information in BLOCK CAPITALS
  • Send us both copies of the management contract included with the application form so that we can send one of them back to you after you have been registered as a member of the SGAE

2. a) IF YOU PUBLISH AS A BODY CORPORATE, you will have to provide the following documentation about the incorporation of your business as a trading company:

  • Photocopy of the registration form for Business Activity Tax (Impuesto sobre Actividades Económicas or "I.A.E.") under heading 476.9 for the current year.
  • Photocopy of your Tax ID card with your individual number.
  • Photocopy of the ID card or passport of the representatives of the publishing house before SGAE.
  • A certified copy of the company's Memorandum of Incorporation duly entered on the Companies' Registry setting out:
  • The company's Articles of Association with the inclusion of "publication of musical works" within its corporate purpose.
  • The current Director(s) of the Company who can represent the Publisher vis-à-vis the SGAE for all purposes.

If you are unable to provide documentation equivalent to that indicated because you are a foreign registered company, please contact us

b) IF YOU PUBLISH WORKS AS A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL , you will have to provide the following documents:

  • Photocopy of the registration form for Business Activity Tax (Impuesto sobre Actividades Económicas or "I.A.E.") under heading 476.9 for the current year.
  • Photocopy of the personal ID card or passport of the private individual acting as the publisher.
  • Photocopy of his or her Tax ID number ("Número de Identificación Fiscal" or NIF).

If you are unable to provide documentation equivalent to that indicated because you are a foreign publisher, please contact us

In addition, you will have to provide us with::

3. A work registration form for at least one work that is being exploited publicly at the time you are requesting membership of the SGAE.

4. Copy of the musical publishing contract for the work(s) registered.

5. A copy of the work in a printed format (score), indicating the correct copyright and with the work's official Legal Deposit ("Depósito Legal") registration number printed on it.

6. Copy of the receipt for a single payment of 15 euros.

This payment is made only once and you can pay it in cash at any of our Offices or by bank transfer, in which case you must send us a copy of your payment order (*).

Become a member – As a successor

 

If you are the heir or successor of a member of the SGAE who has died, then you have to submit the following documentation to us to prove your status.

1. Death certificate.

2. Notarial deed accrediting the distribution and allocation of the estate, setting out the manner of the distribution of copyright, or else a private document signed by all of the heirs and successor stating the distribution and allocation of the copyright among them.

3. Tax receipt showing that the corresponding Estate Duty has been settled up..

4. Certificate from the Probate Register and a certified copy of the Last Will and Testament if the deceased member left a will. If no will was made or if a copy is not available, a formal declaration of heirs and successors made by a notary public will be required if these are first-degree relatives (father, mother, children, spouse), or else a certified copy of the Court Ruling declaring the heirs and successors, duly issued by the corresponding Court (normally the Court of First Instance corresponding to the last recorded address of the deceased), in the case of non-first-degree heirs.

5. Finally, after all of the above requirements have been complied with, each of the heirs or successors wishing to become a member of the SGAE must provide us with a passport-sized photograph, a photocopy of their respective ID cards or passports and they must complete and sign each of the forms provided below:

REMEMBER:

  • Send us both copies of the management contract so that we can send one of them back to you after you have been registered as a successor.
  • When there are multiple heirs it is important for everyone to designate one of the heir or successors as your joint representative vis-à-vis our entity in the field marked "Representative of the joint holders vis-à-vis the SGAE" on the application form.
