Does the SGAE collect copyright fees in the case of charity concerts? What do they have to do to apply for exemption from payment of copyright?

The SGAE considers charity concerts to be a great initiative and supports them as they demonstrate the ability of Culture to participate with society as and when needed.

Our Management Entity has a protocol in place for our authors to be made aware in advance of concerts like these being held so that they can, if they feel it is appropriate, waive their rights in favour of social causes..

However, the SGAE is under a contractual obligation to manage the rights of the authors of the works played there. It is the individual author, and not the SGAE, who makes that decision, although we assume the obligation to alert them in advance in accordance with the protocol established.
