What is the difference between the Intellectual Property Register and the SGAE?

The Intellectual Property Register is a public register run by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. Registering works on the Intellectual Property Register is necessary to ensure greater protection of works in the event of a possible case of plagiarism as there is a legal presumption that the rights on record actually exist and belong to the registered holder in the manner set out in the corresponding register entry.

By registering with the SGAE, its members are also making sure that any copyright generated by their creations is collected, no matter how they were used by or shared with the public.
