​To distribute a video, whether free of charge or for a price, you need an SGAE licence for the reproduction and distribution rights.
 
What steps do I need to take to publish a video (DVD, BLU-RAY)?
Just complete an authorization contract that varies depending on the characteristics of your production, to which we will apply the SGAE's general tables of fees for reproduction and distribution rights on videographic media.
Examples of fees

​The SGAE fee rate to be applied for marketing a video (DVD, BLU-RAY)
Dramatic works:
 You can choose between these two options: recommended retail price or retailer's cost price (depending on your specific case). In both options, the SGAE fee is applied to the price you indicate after discounting VAT.

• 8% of the recommended retail price

If you opt for the "retailer's cost price", the fees are as follows:

• 11% of the retailer's cost price

 Our tariffs include something referred to as the "minimum charge" (the minimum amount to be paid per copy manufactured). This will be applied whenever the fee resulting from applying the percentages indicated above is less than the minimum charge.
Minimum charge:
• € 0.7008 per unit

Karaoke videos:
You can choose between these two options: recommended retail price or retailer's cost price (depending on your specific case). In both options, the SGAE fee is applied to the price you indicate after discounting VAT.

If you opt for the "recommended retail price", the fees are as follows

• 8% of the recommended retail price

If you opt for the "retailer's cost price", the fees are as follows:

• 11% of the retailer's cost price

 Our tariffs include something referred to as the "minimum charge" (the minimum amount to be paid per copy manufactured). This will be applied whenever the fee resulting from applying the percentages indicated above is less than the minimum charge.
Minimum charge:
• € 0.0967 per musical work reproduced and unit

What does this licence include?

  • Video (DVD, BLU-RAY)

    Whenever you want to distribute a video with these characteristics: Feature film, documentary, work adapted for TV, dramatic works and karaoke videos, the procedure for applying for a licence is as follows:


    • Complete the authorization contract

    • The SGAE identifies the repertoire used (Direction, Script and Music)

    • The SGAE issues a licence (invoice) by applying the general tables of fees for this type of production

    • The video can be distributed once the invoice from the SGAE has been paid

Deductions and rate reductions

For videos intended for sale, 6% of the units manufactured (up to a maximum of 200) will be exempted from payment the first time you market them.

The deductions for fees are as follows:

• 7,5% when using the recommended retail price

• 10% when using the retailer's cost price
