Ever since it was built in 1901, the “Campos Elíseos” theatre was considered as one of the most prestigious halls of great artistic category. It soon began to be known as “Chocolate Box on Bertendona” and for many years was the stage best driving the opera boom in the Basque Country, only recently introduced in the area. Through meticulous refurbishment, an attempt has been made to recover, as far as possible, the original design of the Modernist building that gave birth to it years past in the midst of the economic, cultural and urban expansion of Bilbao. Thus, the Campos Elíseos Theatre has been able to emerge once more in all its splendour. Click here to request a tour.
