If creators perform their own works or those of others in their group, do they assign the rights to the producer when they record it?

In these cases where the same persons may be both the creator and the performer, the author-performer is not assigning any author-related rights to the producer when a record is made. What the performer is really doing is enter into a contract regulating the conditions for the performance in exchange for such royalties as may be freely agreed. This will affect the rights of the performer, but never those corresponding to the author-composer.
