What is a general representation agreement?

General representation agreements are those entered into by publishers from different countries (the original publisher and the foreign publisher), with the main purpose of assigning the exclusive copyright with respect to the territory of one or more countries and in connection with all present and future works in the publisher's catalogue. By means of such an agreement, the foreign publisher is empowered to represent and manage the published works of the original publisher in a specific territorial scope.
