The Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers’ (SGAE) Board of Directors has named Miguel Ángel Recio as the entity’s new Director General.
With a Degree in Law from the University of Salamanca, he has been part of the Senior Corps of Civil State Administrators since 1992. He did an Executive Master in Financial Institutions at the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles I.E.B. (2018)
He has 25 years of work experience of which more than fifteen were as Director of very important cultural organisations, such as the National Heritage (Royal Palaces and their Foundations), the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and Foundation, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), General Direction of Fine Arts and the President of the Spanish Cultural Action Society.
His international dimension as a Spanish representative in international organization committees (OCDE, GAFI, The European Commission), his participation in International Cooperation in Latin America and Morocco are also outstanding.
He was part of the executive board at the Teatro Real, the Museo del Prado, the Gran Teatro Liceo in Barcelona, the Teatro de La Maestranza in Seville, the Iberoamericano (Latin American) Festival in Cadiz, the Consortium for the Rehabilitation of Theatres in Madrid and Barcelona and the Reina Sofia Museum, among others.
His last professional public responsibility has been in the field of compliance with financial regulations in the Spanish Treasury and especially in the prevention of money laundering, with special attention to new technologies (blockchain) and the appearance of new financial operators like FinTech.
